CELEBRATIONS – 2025 – 2026

PONGAL DAY CELEBRATION

Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science celebrated the harvest festival of Pongal in a spectacular manner on 13th January 2026 in the college premises. As a part of the festivities, various traditional competitions like Pongal Vaithal, Pulli Kolam, Karumbu Udaithal, Uri Adithal and Ilavattakkal, Tamil traditional cooking competitions were conducted. Students adorned in traditional costumes, participated with great enthusiasm and fervour. Traditional South-Indian folk art performances were presented by students, sustaining the lively spirit of the three-day harvest festival. The Pongal Vaithal event was a highlight, with students taking on the role of cooks, blending humble ingredients and cooking them in clay pots over an open flame to create a delicious Pongal. The Tamil Traditional cooking competition deserves a spotlight for showcasing the team effort of the teaching, non-teaching staff and students. Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science presided over the function and distributed the prizes to the winners. The event was organised by Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar, Head, Department of Languages and it was a grand success.

CELEBRATIONS – 2024 – 2025

MADRAS DAY CELEBRATION

Department of Visual Communication.The 385th Madras Day celebration was grandly conducted (22.08.2024) in the college campus by the Department of Visual Communication and Hotel Management of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Pallikaranai, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club. The event was graced by special guests, Mr. Boopesh Pitchumani, corporate chef, writer’s cafe and Mr. Vignesh Kannan, a film director, presented prizes to the students who won in the competitions and congratulated them. Various competitions like painting, singing, photography, and cooking without fire were held among the students under the theme “Our Chennai.” A marathon was also conducted with the theme “Creating an Accident-Free Chennai.” The event also featured a photography exhibition and a food market organized by the students. The college principal, Dr. T.S. Shanthi, presided over the event. The event was coordinated by the professors from the Department of Visual Communication, Hotel Management, and the Rotaract Club.

INDEPENDANCE DAY CELEBRATION

Independance Day Celebrations was organised at Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science on 15th August 2024 in the college premises. Mr.Krishnakumar.M, Ex.Indian Army was the chief guest, graced the occasion and distributed the prizes to the prize winners.

PONGAL DAY CELEBRATION

Pongal Celebrations were organised at Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science in a superlative fashion on 12th January 2024 in the college premises.  Students clad in colourful traditional outfits participated in a wide range of traditional competitions including Pongal Vaithal, Pulli Kolam, Karumbu Udaithal, Uri Adithal and Ilavattakkal.  There is something particularly delightful about Pongal Vaithal, where student turned cooks, mingled an eclectic collection of humble ingredients, traditionally cooked it together in firelit clay pots and served up as delicious Pongal. Traditional South-Indian folk art were performed  by students as a part of the festivities, kept upbeat the spirit of the three day harvest festival. Tapping the entrepreneurial skills of students, the kiosks at Pongal Sandhai were a centre of attraction among students and staff members. Mr.  VST Promise Ambethkar, Entrepreneur and a Proud Asan Alumni graced the occasion and distributed  the prizes to the winners. Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science presided over the function.  The event was organised by Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar, Head, Department of Languages and it was a grand success.
