The College has instituted various Clubs to enable the students to pursue their special interest in arts, culture and social service. The students are given opportunities to hone their skills and learn new skills through the workshops or events organized by the various clubs of the College. These clubs are a forum for student interaction in a variety of focused club activities. The following are the clubs of the College:

Best NSS Unit Award

Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Chennai has received the *Best NSS Unit Award* at the University level for the year 2022-2023 for their Extraordinary Contribution Towards Society by organising Blood Donation camps for Government Hospitals, Health Camps, Tree planting drives, Desilting of ponds and making it usable by the people of Medavakkam area and creating awareness on Government schemes.

Event Coordinator for a world record initiative to plant one crore palm tree seeds

Dr. S.Ramesh Kumar have been conferred with the Appreciation Certificate & Memento by Honourable Thiru C.V.Ganesan, Minister for Labour and Employment Department , Chennai on 12.10.2023 for being the Event Coordinator for a world record initiative to plant *one crore palm tree seeds* on 14.12.2023. The event was organized by the Tamil Nadu Palmtree Workers Welfare Board along with Green Neeta Environmental Association and Tamil Nadu State NSS Cell.

PAVITHRA. K, NSS Volunteers of Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science, Chennai affiliated to University of Madras has successfully participated in the Adventure Camp 2023 held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh from 19th to 28th December 2023 (10 Days).

Michaung cyclone relief services
S.Shanmugavel & R. Velmurugan (III B.Sc Computer Science) NSS volunteers of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Chennai have been serving Michaung cyclone relief services for State Emergency Operation Centre, Chepauk, Chennai for 01.012.2023 to 10.12.2023 (Ten Days)
Michaung Flood Relief Material Distribution

The NSS Unit of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Affiliated to University of Madras in association with Indian Red Cross, Tamil Nadu Branch and Anna Nagar Lion’s Club, Chennai distributed Michaung Flood Relief materials to 40 Irula community people residing in Madayambakkam & Atchivilagam in Cheyyur Taluk , Chengalpet District. Relief materials worth Rs.1,50,000 (Rs. 3,750 per family) including Tarpaulin, rice, dhal, bed sheets, oil, biscuits, along with stationeries for the students like notebooks, pen were distributed today.

The event was presided over by Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Mr.K. Vedavyas Finance and Administrative Officer of Red Cross, Prof. G. Bhaskaran, Zonal Co- ordinator of Youth Red Cross, University of Madras and Mr.S. Murugan, Head of Anna Nagar Lion’s Club, Chennai provided the relief materials to the needy. Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar, NSS Programme Officer, Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science co-ordinated the event.

Vigilance and Anti Corruption

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department, Government of Tamil Nadu along with the NSS Unit of Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science jointly organized a seminar on Vigilance and Anti Corruption on 1/11/23 in the college premises, as part of the Tamil Nadu Government Vigilance and Anti Corruption week from 30th October to 5th November. Mrs.Sharmu Rajan, Assistant Commissioner, Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption emphasized the importance of anti corruption and ethical values in the students. Mr. Albin Raj, Inspector (Law & Order), Pallikaranai Police Station along with the Vigilance division officers participated in the programme. Prof. Mr.G.Ravichandran, Vice Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science, presided over the event, organized by NSS Program Officer Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar.

Heart & Brain Health Awareness Walkathon – 29.10.2023

  • Dr.P.Ramesh Kumar, NSS Programme officer and 100 NSS volunteers of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Chennai, participated Heart & Brain Health Awareness Walkathon organised by Gleneagles Health City, Chennai in association with the National Service Scheme on 29.10.2023 from NIOT, Radial Road to Pallikaranai.  Healthy Youth For Healthy India

  • The NSS Unit of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science organised a one-week special camp on the topic *Strong Youth for a Prosperous India* from 23 March 2023. An Awareness Rally on *Road Safety and the Importance of Wearing Helmet* was organised on the fifth day of the camp (27 March 2023) from Pallikaranai  to Medavakkam via Jaladianpet. Around 100 NSS volunteers participated in the rally, wearing helmets, and shared pamphlets on road safety and the importance of wearing helmets for the general public.  Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, presided over the camp. The NSS Programme Officers, Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar and Dr. S. Senthil Kumar coordinated the event.
  • The NSS Unit of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science,Chennai, has organised a one week NSS special camp  on the topic *  “Healthy Youth for Healthy India”  * from 23.03.2023. Various activities including rallies against drug abuse and on road safety and the importance of wearing helmets, dredging of the age-old Pallava temple pond, and cleaning of Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple premises were organised as a part of the camp. The Valedictory function of the seven days camp was organised at Pallikaranai, Sri Lakshminarayana Perumal Temple on 29 March 2023. Mrs.M.Krishnaveni, Temple Executive Officer was the Chief Guest. Around 100 NSS volunteers  participated in the Valedictory function and planted saplings in the temple premises. Dr. T. S.   • The NSS Unit of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science , Pallikkaranai organised a Seven Days Special Camp – “Healthy Youth for Healthy India” from 23.3.2023 in Medavakkam Village.  On the sixth day (28.3.2023) of this camp, the Arulmigu Sri Lakshminarayana Perumal Temple, Pallikaranai compound was cleaned by the volunteers who also removed the refuse and mesquite trees around the temple.  100 NSS volunteers Participated in this Camp, Presided over by Dr. T.   • The NSS Unit of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science organised a 7- Days Special Camp on the theme ‘Healthy Youth For Healthy India’ in Medavakkam Village from 23rd March 2023.On Day 4 of the Camp, a pond near Medavakkam popular since the Pallava period was cleaned up and made completely litter-free. Nearly 100  NSS volunteers were involved in removing plastic waste and Seemai Karuvelam trees from the pond. Dr. T. S. ICT – 2023

Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science in association with ICT Academy and Atos Prayas Foundation (An Atos CSR initiative), has launched a 100-hour Value Added Program on “Banking Financial Services Insurance(BFSI): Overview and Financial Products” from 10.7.2023 to 26.7.2023.

The Program is sponsored by Atos Syntel Prayas Foundation under its CSR initiative. Around 60 final year students from the B.Com and BBA departments (Shift I & Shift II) are actively participating in this training program.

  • Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science in association with Hand in Hand Academy organized “The Grand Entrepreneurship Challenge Programme” from March 9th to 14th at MBA Conference hall. 45 students participated in the programme. Mr Yeshaswi Nag, Hand-in-Hand Academy was the trainer. Students were trained in writing Business Plans, took up Psychometric tests. The training ended with a game to develop marketing skills. Women’s Studies Cell Activities (2025-2026)

Entrepreneur Skills Training: AMCAS Women’s Studies Cell in collaboration with the Avtar Human Capital Trust organized the Entrepreneur Skills Training Program for Nipuni Scholars on 23rd December 2025.

Work Shop: Women’s Studies Cell in collaboration with Team Everest organized an “Orientation on Job Readiness Skills for girl students on 12th January 2026. Around 70 students enrolled  in this program and attended the online sessions for 15 days.

Certificate Course on AI & Python: Women’s studies cell in association with Avtar Human Capital Trust organised a 3 days certificate course on AI & Python for Nipuni students from 19th February to 21st January2026.

Aptitude Skills: Women’s studies cell in association with Avtar Human Capital Trust organised a one-day training program on Aptitude Skills on 22ndJanuary 2026.

Workshop on Health and Wellness: Women’s studies cell organized a one-day workshop on Health and Wellness on 30th January 2026. The resource person was Dr. Malarkodi.M, Chief Clinical Dietitian, Kauvery Hospital Chennai and Ms. Anju Vijayan, Laasyam Dance Academy Chennai.

Career Enablement Program: Women’s studies cell in association with AVTAR Human Capital organised a one-day  training program on Career Enablement for Nipuni students on 9th February 2026.

Women’s Day Competition: On account of Womens day celebration’s, Women’s Studies Cell conducted the fun games for the Teaching, Non-Teaching and House-Keeping staff on 4th March 2026.

Inauguration of Womens Studies Cell (2024 – 2025)

For the academic year 2024-2025, Women’s Studies Cell was inaugurated on 22nd August 2024.The chief guest for the event was Dr.Aafrin Shabbir, Internal Medicine and Diabetology, Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai. Principal Dr. T. S. Santhi felicitated the chief guests and motivated the students. Student’ office bearers were elected and badges were distributed.

Inauguration of Nipuni Program:

AMCAS Women’s Studies Cell in collaboration with the Avtar Human Capital Trust conducted the NIPUNI Career Pathing Program on 18 October 2024 to empower women students in their career journey. Members and volunteers of the Trust organised an orientation program for the first-year women students and over 100 students from various departments of the college participated in the program.

AVTAR Udyog Utsav:

Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science in association with the AVTAR Human Capital Trust hosted the 11th edition of Udyog Utsav 2024 on 26th October 2024.The event saw full participation, under scoring the growing commitment to empowering young girls and driving their career ambitions. The one-day conference hosted interaction sessions with industry leaders and educational institutions for the girls studying between class 9 & 12 in government and corporation schools. The event had participation from more than 20 leading corporations.

Awareness Program:

AMCAS in association with the Women’s Studies Cell, conducted an awareness programme for the UG and PG women students, on 2nd January 2025. The program focused on providing awareness on myriad topics including social media usage, drug addiction, personal hygiene, proper use of incinerators and napkin wending machines for a greener tomorrow. The staff members of the Cell and a few other faculties of the college engaged the students in a fruitful session. Feedback and suggestions were collected from the students during the session.

Assertiveness and Self Awareness Program:

Avtar Human Capital Trust’s NIPUNI CAREER PATHING PROGRAM was initiated on 20th December 2024. Online and offline classes are being provided in connection to the program. A lively and engaging session on ” Assertiveness and Self Awareness” was conducted on 24 January 2025.

Work Shop:

A workshop on “Team work and Presentation Skills” was conducted for the NIPUNI scholars as part of their career pathing program on, 14 February 2025.

Vocational Training & Placement Program: ANEW

AMCAS Women’s Studies cell in association with ANEW, organised a free training and placement support program on 14 February 2025. Third year women students from different departments participated in the orientation.

Certification Course:

Avtar Human Capital Trust organized a one week certificate  program on the topic “MS office & Basics of Data Analytics from 12th to 17th march 2025.The Nipuni students participated and benefited.

Nipuni Scholarship:

The Avtar Human Capital Trust organised the Putri scholarship program for 10 deserving Nipuni scholars of our college on 20th March 2025.Each student was awarded a scholarship amount of Rs.25,000. Mr Eswar Balasbramaniam, senior Vice President AHCT elevated the event through his presence.

Women’s Studies Cell in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized a

Faculty Development Program on “Sustenance of Physical Agility” dated 28th October 2023.

Self-Grooming Workshop:

Women’s Studies Cell conducted a workshop on the Topic “Self-Grooming” to the girl students of our college on 7th February 2024 by Miss.Kaviya. L, Kavi Bridal Studio, Chennai. Students participated with enthusiasm and got benefited.

Competitions for Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff:

On Account of Women’s Day, Women’s Studies Cell conducted various competitions for students, Teaching staff, Non –Teaching staff, House Keeping staff and the prize winners were honoured in the occasion of Asan-Mahila.

In regards to Women’s Day, Women’s Studies Cell in collaboration with kauvery Hospital conducted a Medical Camp for the staff of AMCAS on 4th
March 2024.

Asan Mahila-Women’s Day:

On 7th March 2024, Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science celebrated Asan Mahila a special event that commemorates International Women’s Day. The Chief Guest was Ms. Neerja Malik, a cancer counsellor and inspirational speaker. The Guest of Honour was Ms. T. Mary Raju, Inspector of Police, Kaaval Karangal, Chennai. In their address, they highlighted the realities experienced by women while also inspiring the audience to persevere and make a positive change in society. Asan Mahila has a long-standing tradition of recognizing and honouring women who have made exceptional contribution to society. Keeping with this tradition, this year, Ms. V. Umarani, Humanitarian & Founder, Thavamani Foundation and Ms. M. Subaja, Para-athlete, were honoured for their services towards the betterment of women and society. A series of competitions for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college were conducted and prizes were distributed. A variety of cultural performances staged by the staff and students enthralled the audience and added an electrifying atmosphere to the event. Mrs. Shyamala Jayaprakash, General Secretary, Asan Memorial Association presided over the function. Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal, AMCAS welcomed the gathering. The event was a grand success.

Along with the inaugural ceremony, an awareness program on Breast Cancer was given by Dr.Madhuri Sudhakar, Surgical Oncologist. Women’s Studies Cell conducted one day certificate Program to Women’s students in association with CASI GLOBAL on the topic “FINANCIAL LITERACY” on 11 th September 2023.The program was conducted by Ms.Harshini Neralla.

Inauguration of Womens Studies Cell ( 2022 – 2023)

Women’s studies cell of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science has been actively working with the vision of moulding and enlightening the female students to become self-reliant and better human beings. Women’s Studies Cell of AMCAS organized its inauguration ceremony at the Mini Auditorium on Monday, 31.10.22 at 10 am. Dr.Pavithra, Internal Medicine and Diabetologist, Gleneagles Global Hospital, Chennai delivered the inaugural speech. Dr.T.S.Santhi, Principal, AMCAS presided over the function.

Dr.Pavithra also enlightened the girl students by giving awareness to be healthy and self-reliant in all spheres of live. The event was a grand success and was attended by the girl students in the college.

Women Rights Awareness Program:

Women’s Studies Cell of AMCAS organized the Women’s Rights rally on 12th Dec,2022, Monday at the college campus. Girl students assembled on the ground displaying placards with slogans on the theme of Women’s Rights to create awareness on the rights of women and violence perpetrated against women. Women’s Studies cell student Coordinators read out slogans on Women’s Rights and the students repeated the slogans. The staff coordinators created awareness on the basic human rights claimed for women and girls all over the world.

The programme was presided over by Dr. M. Jaya, Dean Academics and Research, Dr. S. Kanimozhi, AMCAS Dean Administration and other faculty members.

Distribution of Sanitary Napkins:

Women Studies Cell of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science distributed free sanitary napkins supplied by Chennai Corporation on 10th January 2023. The Scheme was implemented with the objective of promoting menstrual hygiene in Colleges in Chennai. Each girl students were given five packets of Sanitary napkins by Women Studies cell staff coordinators and Heads of their respective departments. The programme emphasised the pubertal changes, assuring solidarity on matters like coping with menstrual cramps, the nutrition associated with it, while dispelling myths and misconceptions about it and breaking the silence on the issue.

Personality Development Program:

Women’s Studies Cell in association with Rexona Confidence Academy, Hindustan Unilever Limited organized a Personality Development Workshop on Saturday, 21.01.23 at Mini auditorium, Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science for girl students of both shifts. The girls were educated about the relevance of Personality development as it helps them to gain a better sense of direction and self-awareness.

The team emphasised how confidence moulds an individual to become a better and unique person ready to face and handle the outside world. The team of Rexona Academy also presented the girls students Rexona product. The students discussed many queries with the team. The workshop was a grand success.

Free Silambam Classes:

Glimpses of the inauguration of Silambam classes initiated by Women’s Studies Cell on 1st Feb,2023 at Asan Memorial College of Arts and science.

The classes are offered by Silambam trainer, Ms.V.Sarojini and will be attended by girl students of both shifts.

Surya Shakti Yoga Programme:

AMCAS Women’s Studies Cell in association with Isha Yoga Centre organized the “Surya Shakti Yoga” programme on 22nd Feb,2023 at Mini auditorium. The Surya Shakti Yoga programme aims to help students to improve their stress management.

The Yoga instructors, Mrs.Priya Murugan and Mrs.Sowmiya, enlightened the students with different postures, asanas and meditation techniques.

Asan Mahila-Women’s Day Celebrations:

As part of the Asan Mahila, various competitions like Fireless Cooking and Memory Games for the non-teaching staff and Rangoli competition for the housekeeping staff were organised from 28 February to 01 March 2023.

Prizes for the winners and consolation prizes for the participants were given on the occasion of Asan Mahila Women’s Day Celebration by the Guests of Honours.

Asan Mahila was celebrated in our college on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 08 March 2023. Dr. Renuka Ramakrishnan, Humanitarian & Social Reformer and Mrs. S. Meenakshi, Entrepreneur and YouTuber of ‘Amma Samayal’ Channel were the Chief Guests. Mrs. Raji Ashok, a socially committed auto driver and Miss. Vityasri, a differently-abled achiever was honoured for their contributions to society.

Dr. Renuka Ramakrishnan addressed the students about how she has dedicated her life to eradicate the social crimes against women and children. Mrs. S. Meenakshi emphasized how age is not a factor to pursue one’s dream. Mrs. Raji Ashok and Miss. Vityasri also enlightened the students with their talk on perseverance, determination and incredible achievements in their lives. Mrs. Shyamala Jayaprakash, General Secretary, Asan Memorial Association presided over the function. Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal i/c welcomed the gathering. The women staff and students also presented a variety of cultural performances that added vibrancy to the celebrations. The event was a grand success.

வணக்கம். செம்மொழித் தமிழாய்வு மத்திய நிறுவனமும் ஆசான் நினைவு கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் திருவள்ளுவர் தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்றமும் இணைந்து நடத்தும் பாரதியார் பிறந்த நாள் விழா கல்லூரி மாணவர்களுக்கான பேச்சுப்போட்டி பாருக்குள்ளே நல்ல நாடு எங்கள் பாரத நாடு என்னும் தலைப்பில்  05 – 01 – 2024 (வெள்ளிக்கிழமை) இன்று  நடைபெற்றதுஇந்நிகழ்விற்குக் கல்லூரி முதல்வர் முனைவர் T.S. சாந்தி அவர்கள் தலைமையுரை வழங்கினார்.

இவ்விழாவிற்குப் பிரின்ஸ் ஸ்ரீ பாலாஜி கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் முதல்வர் முனைவர் பா.தனவந்தினி அவர்கள் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராகக் கலந்துகொண்டு போட்டியில் வெற்றி பெற்ற மாணவர்களுக்குப் பரிசுகளையும் பாராட்டுச் சான்றிதழ்களையும்  வழங்கினார். மேலும் அவர் பாரதியின் பாடல்களையும்  சிறுகதைகளையும் எடுத்துக்கூறி இன்றைய மாணவர்களுக்குத் தேவையான தன்னம்பிக்கை, விடாமுயற்சி, ஆழ்ந்த இலக்கிய அறிவு போன்றவற்றைப் பெற்று வாழ்வில் வெற்றி பெற வேண்டும் என வாழ்த்தினார்  சிறப்புரை ஆற்றினார். சுமார் 75 மாணவர்கள் கலந்து கொண்ட இந்த பேச்சுப்போட்டிக்குக் குருநானக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் பிரின்ஸ் ஸ்ரீ வெங்கடேஷ்வரா கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் உதவிப் பேராசிரியர்களான முனைவர் பா. விநாயகம்,  முனைவர் சா. பாத்திமா ஆகியோர் நடுவர்களாகக் கலந்துகொண்டு சிறப்பித்தனர்.  

இப்போட்டியில் ஏ. ஜெய்பவானி முதல் பரிசாக ரூ.5000, ஆ. பூபாரதி இரண்டாம் பரிசாக ரூ.3000, த. பிரதிபா  மூன்றாம் பரிசாக ரூ.2000 என மூவரும் ரொக்கப் பரிசுகளும் பாராட்டுச் சான்றிதழும் பெற்றனர். இந்நிகழ்வினைத் தமிழ்த்துறைத் தலைவர் முனைவர் பொன்ரமேஷ்குமார் அவர்கள் ஒருங்கிணைத்தார். நாட்டுப்பண்ணுடன் விழா இனிதே நிறைவுபெற்றது.

THIRUVALLUVAR TAMIL ILAKKIYA INAUGURATION CEREMONY

  • வணக்கம். ஆசான்     நினைவு கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் தமிழ்த்துறை சார்பில் திருவள்ளுவர் தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்ற தொடக்க விழா கல்லூரி அரங்கில் செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை (10.10.2023)  இன்று நடைபெற்றது. இந்நிகழ்விற்குக் கல்லூரி முதல்வர் முனைவர் T.S. சாந்தி அவர்கள் தலைமையுரை வழங்கினார்.  இவ்விழாவிற்குச் சென்னைப் பல்கலைக்கழகத் தமிழ்மொழித்துறையின் மேனாள் தலைவர் பேரா. முனைவர் அரங்க. இராமலிங்கம் அவர்கள் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராகக் கலந்துகொண்டார். அவர் தமது சிறப்புரையில் தமிழர்கள் மன்றங்கள் தோற்றுவித்து இலக்கியங்கள் குறித்த ஆய்வுரைகளைத் தொடர்ந்து நடத்தியதன் காரணமாகத்தான் மூவாயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் தோன்றிய தமிழ்மொழி இன்றும் வழக்கில் இருந்து வருகிறது என்றுரைத்தார். சங்க இலக்கியப் பாடல்களை மேற்கோளாக எடுத்துக்காட்டி உலக மொழிகளில் தமிழ் மொழி இன்றும் சிறப்பு பெற்று விளங்குவதன் காரணத்தை விளக்கினார். மாணவர்கள் வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும்போது எல்லாம் அறிஞர்களிடமிருந்து செவிச்செல்வத்தைப் பெற வேண்டும் என்று திருக்குறளைச் சான்று காட்டிச் செவிச்செல்வத்தின் அவசியத்தை வலியுறுத்தினார்.  இந்நிகழ்விற்குத் தமிழ்த்துறைத் தலைவர் முனைவர் பொன். ரமேஷ் குமார் அவர்கள் இம்மன்றத்தின் நோக்கம் மற்றும் வருங்காலச் செயல்பாடுகள் குறித்தும் உரையாற்றினார். நாட்டுப்பண்ணுடன் விழா இனிதே நிறைவுபெற்றது

RED RIBBON CLUB

  • A voluntary blood donation camp was organised by Red Ribbon Club of Asan Memorial college in association with NSS, AMCAS on 13.08. 2024. The blood bank team from Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital, Chennai associated with us and  blood was collected.
  • A voluntary blood donation camp was organised by Red Ribbon Club of Asan Memorial college in association with NSS, AMCAS on 05.09. 2023. The blood bank team from Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital, Chennai associated with us and around 101 units of blood was collected.

EMERGENCY CARE AND SAFETY AWARENESS CELL

  • The Emergency Care and Safety Awareness Cell of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science (AMCAS) is dedicated to create a culture of safety, preparedness, and social responsibility among students. The Cell functions with the objective of equipping every student with essential life-saving skills and the confidence to respond effectively at the time of emergency.
  • The Cell enriches knowledge in areas of basic first aid such as CPR, emergency response, and disaster preparedness through workshops, awareness programmes, and hands-on training sessions throughout the year. It also organizes awareness drives and collaborative initiatives with reputed government and non-government organizations, ensuring students gain both theoretical understanding and practical exposure.

2024-2025

Emergency Care and Safety Awareness Cell of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science in association with ALERT (Amenity Lifeline Emergency Response Team) organized a Two-day Basic Life support-training program “alert VOICE” for the students on 27th and 28th June 2024. Ms. Rekha Sreekumar, Assistant Manager, Social initiatives and trainer in ALERT, and Ms.Varshini, Executive in Projects and Training, ALERT, gave hands on training on basic skills that include common medical emergencies such as bleeding, chocking, identifying obstruction in airways, CPR etc. The program was highly informative and interactive. Around 40 students from various departments attended and were trained on basic life support care. Further, the students were assessed by doctors and approved, received certificates and ID cards designating them as official volunteers to serve the society.

2023-2024

Emergency Care and Safety Awareness Club of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Chennai attended the 7th edition of ALERT Being Awards held on 9th February 2024 at Anna Centenary Auditorium, Kotturpuram. ALERT (Amenity Lifeline Emergence Response Team), NGO, Chennai recognizes and appreciates the real life heroes who have saved lives.

Around 50 students and 2 faculty members from the Department of Microbiology and Biochemistry have attended the program and received e-certificate for the same.

Emergency Care and Safety Awareness Club of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Chennai in association with ALERT (Amenity Lifeline Emergence Response Team), NGO, Chennai organizes a Basic Life Support Training program for the students on ‘First Aid Safety Awareness’ on 9th October 2023.

Ms. Rekha Sreekumar, Assistant Manager, Social Initiatives and Trainer in ALERT trained the students on how to act at emergency situations. She also demonstrated about checking vitals, blood circulation, identifying obstruction in airways etc.

The program was highly instructive and interactive. Around 160 students of various departments attended, raised their queries and become trained on Basic Life Support Care.

2022-2023

MoU Signed Between AMCAS and ALERT

The Emergency Care and Safety Awareness Cell of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science (AMCAS) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ALERT, a reputed NGO dedicated to spreading awareness on emergency care.

On 19th October 2022, the MoU was signed by Mr. Rajesh R Trivedi, Co-Founder and Managing Trustee of ALERT, and Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal of AMCAS.

This collaboration aims to equip students with vital knowledge and hands-on training in first aid, emergency response, and safety practices. Through structured workshops and training programmes, students will gain the confidence and skills to respond effectively during emergencies and contribute to building a safer society.

 

This initiative reflects AMCAS’s commitment to fostering social responsibility and empowering students with life-saving capabilities.
