Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Chennai celebrated the 31st Annual Day on 22 March 2025. Thiru. A. Mayilvaganan I.P.S Superintendent of Police, Narcotic Intelligence Bureau, Crime Investigation Department was the Chief Guest. Dr. S. Kanimozhi, Dean – Administration welcomed the gathering. Dr. T.S. Santhi, Principal presented the Annual Report of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science and Dr. M. Jaya, Dean – Academics and Research presented the Annual Report of the Asan Institute of Management for the academic year 2024-25. The Chief Guest in his inaugural address reminded the students that discipline, dedication and determination are the key elements on their path to success. His address inspired and motivated the students to improve themselves and become better citizens of society.
The highlight of the event was the endowment prizes in fourteen different categories that were awarded to the students with exemplary performance in academics and sports. Mr. M. Karthik (III B.Sc. Computer Science, Shift-I) and Ms. S. Dhanushiya (III BCom A&F, Shift-II) received the Best Outgoing Student Award. The students who had won various proficiency prizes in languages, major and allied subjects received their awards and honours from the Chief Guest. The students who secured hundred percent attendance for the academic year 2024-25 were also recognized for their achievements. Members of the teaching and non-teaching staff who had contributed more than 25 years of service were recognized and honoured for their efforts. Mr. G. Ravichandran, Vice Principal proposed the Vote of Thanks. Cultural events were organised as a part of the College Day celebrations. The stellar performances added an electrifying effect to the atmosphere at the event.
The event was presided over by College Principal, T. S. Shanthi, who applauded the efforts and enthusiasm of all involved. The Sports Day was meticulously organized by the Physical Education team, led by Mr. K. Giridharan and Mr. C. Anand, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for everyone.

Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Pallikaranai, marked its 31st Sports Day with grandeur, engaging both students and staff in an array of spirited competitions. The event, which commenced on March 4th, showcased diverse sports ranging from Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Throwball, and Cricket to numerous athletic events.
Students, representing eight vibrant houses named after precious gems, competed with zeal and camaraderie. Team Emerald emerged as the overall champions, securing the coveted rolling trophy in a nail-biting conclusion to the festivities.
The grand occasion was graced by the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Mrs. Kavya Dhanapal, a BCCI-certified coach. In her inspirational address, she commended the participants and especially encouraged female students to aim high and break barriers in sports. Mrs. Kavya also distributed prizes across various categories, celebrating their dedication and achievements. R. Anandhi of 1st BBA, won the individual championship for Women and M. Madhan, of 3rd BSc. Visual Communication, won the individual championship for men. The overall championship was bagged by the team Emerald.

Press Report on Asan Mahila Women’s Day’25
On 07 March 2025, Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science celebrated Asan Mahila a special event that commemorates International Women’s Day. The Chief Guest was Ms. K. S. Sugitha Sarangraj, a pioneering woman journalist and the first woman Chief News Editor in Tamil news media. She shared valuable insights and advice with students on overcoming challenges faced by women in today’s world.
Asan Mahila has a long standing tradition of recognizing and honoring women who have made exceptional contribution to society. This year, the college honored two exceptional women achievers, Ms. Petchi Kannan, a distinguished lawyer and chartered accountant, and Ms. K. Deepika, a talented volleyball player, with mementos and certificates for their outstanding contributions towards women’s empowerment. Both the guests of honor also shared their experiences and insights with the students.
The festival included a range of exciting competitions for faculty members and office staff, with prizes awarded to the winners. The event also showcased several cultural events, performed by college faculty members and students, aimed at inspiring and empowering women.
The celebration was graced by the presence of Ms. Shyamala Jayaprakash, General Secretary of the Asan Memorial Association. Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science presided over the event and delivered the vote of thanks. The Vice Principal of the college, Mr. G. Ravichandran delivered the welcome address.
Notably, the festival was organized by the male faculty members, who have pledged to continue this initiative in the years to come, marking a significant milestone in the history of the institution in particular and women’s empowerment in general.
Press Report on 18th Asan Memorial Trophy Tournament
Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science conducted the 18th Asan Memorial Trophy Tournament for Football and Volleyball on 28.02.2025 & 01.03.2025 in the college grounds. Various college teams from across the city participated in the tournaments.
In Volley Ball, teams from Hindustan College and Guru Nanak College qualified for the finals. The trophy was won by the team from Hindustan College with a score of 25-21, 22-25, 25- 20 points.
The finals in Football was a challenge between Guru Nanak College and Agarshan College. The trophy was won by Guru Nanak College by 2-0.
Dr. T.S. Santhi, Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science gave away the trophies to the winners. Mr. K. Giridharan and Mr.C. Anandan, Physical Directors of the college co-ordinated the event.

Press Report on Pongal Day Celebrations’25
Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science celebrated the harvest festival of pongal in a spectacular manner on 10th January 2025 in the college premises. As a part of the festivities, various traditional competitions like Pongal Vaithal, Pulli Kolam, Karumbu Udaithal, Uri Adithal and Ilavattakkal were conducted. Students adorned in traditional costumes, participated with great enthusiasm and fervour. Traditional South-Indian folk art performances were presented by students, sustaining the lively spirit of the three-day harvest festival. The Pongal Vaithal event was a highlight, with students taking on the role of cooks, blending humble ingredients and cooking them in clay pots over an open flame to create a delicious Pongal. The kiosks at Pongal Sandhai, organised by the Enactus Club, provided students with a unique opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial skills and it became a major attraction among students and staff members. Mr. Vigneshvaran, playback singer, graced the occasion and distributed the prizes to the winners. Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science presided over the function. The event was organised by Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar, Head, Department of Languages and it was a grand success.

Additionally, the University Rank Holders from different academic disciplines were duly recognized and felicitated for their outstanding academic performance.
