P.G. & Research Department of Microbiology of Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science organized a Special Lecture on Breast Cancer Awareness on 2nd February 2024.
The Resource person of the programme Dr.Saritha Damodaran, Senior Clinical & Radiation Oncologist, Parvathy Hospital, Chennai, Board member of Rotary Club of Chennai Medical Fraternity & Chairman – Disease Prevention and Treatment, delivered an insightful and educational talk on breast cancer. She discussed the causes, symptoms, and diagnosis of the disease and emphasized the importance of early detection and treatment. The audience was made aware of the risk factors and preventive measures that could help reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Press Report on PONGAL DAY CELEBRATION
Pongal Celebrations were organised at Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science in a superlative fashion on 12th January 2024 in the college premises. Students clad in colourful traditional outfits participated in a wide range of traditional competitions including Pongal Vaithal, Pulli Kolam, Karumbu Udaithal, Uri Adithal and Ilavattakkal. There is something particularly delightful about Pongal Vaithal, where student turned cooks, mingled an eclectic collection of humble ingredients, traditionally cooked it together in firelit clay pots and served up as delicious Pongal. Traditional South-Indian folk art were performed by students as a part of the festivities, kept upbeat the spirit of the three day harvest festival. Tapping the entrepreneurial skills of students, the kiosks at Pongal Sandhai were a centre of attraction among students and staff members. Mr. VST Promise Ambethkar, Entrepreneur and a Proud Asan Alumni graced the occasion and distributed the prizes to the winners. Dr. T. S. Santhi, Principal, Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science presided over the function. The event was organised by Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar, Head, Department of Languages and it was a grand success.

Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Chennai has received the *Best NSS Unit Award* at the University level for the year 2022-2023 for their Extraordinary Contribution Towards Society by organising Blood Donation camps for Government Hospitals, Health Camps, Tree planting drives, Desilting of ponds and making it usable by the people of Medavakkam area and creating awareness on Government schemes.

P.G. & Research Department of Microbiology, organized a Lecture on “Impact of Global Warming on Microbial Diseases – A Warning to Humanity” on 20th September 2023. The Guest speaker of the session, Dr. A.K. Kathireshan, Director, School of Life Science, VELS Institute of Science Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS), Chennai, gave a Lecture on how a changing climate will impact microbes and leads to the emergence of new infectious diseases and emphasized the measures to be followed to prevent the spread of microbes associated with climate change.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell and the Women’s Studies Cell of Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science jointly organized a Faculty Development Programme on 28th October 2023.
Dr. Thendral. K, Clinical Lead and Senior Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Kauvery Hospital emphasised on the significance of self care for women. Ms. Malarkodi. M, Clinical Nutritionist, Kauvery Hospital, Chennai addressed the women faculty members on incorporating lifestyle and dietary changes for a healthy life. The event was a much-needed wake-up call for women’s overall health.

The Department of Commerce organized a National Level Workshop on “College to Corporate (C2C) Transition” on 16th September, 2023. The Workshop aimed to elucidate the transformation process that each student must undergo when transitioning from the academic realm to the corporate world. The Workshop’s inauguration was graced by the presence of CMA. Divya Abishek, Chairperson, Southern India Regional Council of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India who delivered an insightful inaugural address. CMA. Divya Abishek eloquently elucidated the expectations of employers and strategies for students to adequately prepare for the challenges ahead.
Two technical sessions were conducted by distinguished speakers: Mr. V. Sridhar, Assistant Commissioner, Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer protection, Chennai and Ms. N. Harshini, Communication Trainer and Consultant – Certified business, Chennai. These sessions covered a diverse range of topics germane to the Workshop’s theme.
