Inter-Department Competion 2018
B.Com(A&F) Department organized an inter department competition debate on the topic “Is Population Growth a Boon or Curse For Economic Growth” On 6/08/2018. Venue MBA Conference hall from 4 to 6 p.m as a part of planning forum. 20 students from all departments in Shift II participated enthusiastically.
Vaagai Paasarai 2019
The Departments of Shift-II organized “Vaagai Paasarai-2019” a Mega Inter-Collegiate Meet on 16/2/2019. Only with the immense support of the Management and the Principal this great event took place. The students were able to hire sponsors for this event. The Registration began at 8:30 a.m. The Inaugural Session geared up with the motivational speech by Dr.S.Ramanathan, Principal and Syndicate Member, University of Madras. The Department of Computer Applications, Commerce (General), Commerce (Accounts & Finance), Business Administration, Statistics, Department of Languages (Tamil, English, Hindi, Malayalam & French) organized and conducted 20 events of various competitions. Until 10:30 a.m., the registration was done. After the Inaugural Session, all the events were conducted by the respective staff members and HODs in three different slots – 10:00 a.m-11:00a.m., 11:15a.m.-12:15p.m. and 12:15p.m-1:15p.m. 240 students from 21 colleges in and around Chennai enthusiastically participated in all the events. Valedictory Session began at 3:30 p.m. The events’ evaluation and judgement reports were prepared by the respective event-incharges. The occasion became glorious by the presence of the Chief Guest Ms. Kotravai-Writer, Translator and Social Activist and the recipient of Femi Power Award and Vivekanada Mission’s Inspirational Women Award and the Guest of Honour – Mr. M. Radhakrishnan, Convenor, ‘Thozhan’, the recipient of Vivekanandar Thediya 100 Ilaignargal Award and ‘India Book of Records’ Award.
Ms. Kotravai- a lady of voice for women- rendered her Special Address in which she highlighted that the students have to think and work for the society. Mr. M. Radhakrishnan – a man of servicing the poor and the needy- delivered his exemplary speech. The Chief Guests, the Principal and the Shift-II Coordinator bestowed the prizes to all the winners of all the events and the Overall Championship was bagged by Vels University, Chennai. The Mega Inter-Collegiate Meet ended with National Anthem.
Asan Vista 2018
“ASAN VISTA 2018”-For a Better Perspective ,an Expo on ROAD SAFETY-A LIFE SAVER was organised by the Departments of Shift II-Business Administration, Commerce(General), Commerce(A&F), Computer Applications and Languages on 27th September 2018.There was an enthusiastic contribution of the Department of Microbiology in the Expo.
The Expo was organised with the main focus on creating awareness among the present youth about Road Safety. As part of Expo, Posters and Models were prepared by each and every Department of Shift-II. Totally of 30 Posters were prepared covering all topics on Road Safety such as Rules & Regulations , Causes and preventions of Accidents, Licence,Signs & Symbols, Insurance Golden Hour and Precautions . 4 Models were prepared and put on display.
There was a huge positive response from the Students in College. All Students from 16 Departments visited the Expo and made it a grand success.We had a positive feedback. The Management Committee members also visited the Expo and commented that the Students and Faculties of Shift –II have done an incredible work.
AKG’S Students visited the Expo on 28.9.18. Students of Shift-II took pleasure in explaining the various aspects of Road Safety to the kids. They emphasized that the kids should share their experience with their parents. The kids participated enthusiastically.
The Students of Shift-II show cased their talents on Road Safety by MIME,GANA SONG and SLOGAN SHOUT OUT Events were also performed by the students.
Over all, the Events was successful and all Faculties and Students were applauded by the Principal under the guidance and support of Dr.T.Aryamala,Coordinator of Shift-II. Vaagai Paasarai 2018
Vaagai Paasarai 2018 – towards success is the mega intercollegiate event conducted by the Departments of Business Administration, Commerce (General and A&F), Computer Applications and Languages(Tamil, English, Hindi, French & Malayalam) of shift – II of our Asan Memorial college of Arts & Science. This memorable event was conducted on 10th March 2018 with six individual events and twelve group events.
Vaagai Paasarai 2018 witnessed around 150 students from 15 colleges registered (MOP Vaishnava College, Vels University, New College, SDNB Vaishnava College, Madras Christian College, Vivekananda College, DG Vaishnava College, SIVET College, Guru Nanak College, JBAS College, Annai Veilankanni College, etc.) and participated in various events conducted in different sessions on that day.
Vaagai Paasarai 2018 commenced with an inaugural Session, headed by the chief guest Registar of Central Institute of Classical Tamil, Chennai Dr. Mugilai Rasapandian. The Chief Guest lighted the Kuthuvilakku and gave an enlightening and inspiring speech. Our beloved Principal Dr.S.Ramanathan, Syndicate Member – University of Madras presided over the function.
Eighteen events were organized and the events were conducted in Mini Auditorium, AV Room, MBA Conference Hall and MBA Class Rooms respectively. The judges for the events took the competitions to the next level by motivating the students in all possible ways.
Finally the valedictory Sesssion started by 3.30PM. The valedictory address was delivered by Ms.Sneha Mohandoss founder-Food Bank of India, a social activist, which was very informative and innovative. She distributed prizes to winners of various events and winners of inter departmental competitions organized by “Planning Forum”. MOP Vaishanava College for Women bagged the Over All trophy.

Vaagai pasarai-2015
1. Vaagai Paasarai 2015-Towards Success…, an annual intercollegiate meet was conducted by the Department of Languages (Tamil, English, French, Hindi and Malayalam) on Friday, 23rd January 2015
2. The event was inaugurated by famous poet Ms. Salma at 10.30 am at the Main Auditorium by lighting the kuthuvilakku and she delivered the inaugural address
3. The event was felicitated by Joint Secretary Dr. E.K. Purushothaman and the Principal Dr.S. Ramanathan
4. After the tea break, Tamil, English, French, Hindi and Malayalam departments conducted their competitions at the Main Auditorium, Mini Auditorium, M.B.A. Conference Hall, AV Room and M.B.A. Seminar room respectively
5. 14 colleges and around 250 students participated in the competitions
6. Valedictory function was conducted at 4.30 pm at the Main Auditorium
7. Sollin Selvi Smt. Bharathi Thirumagan delivered the valedictory address and distributed the prizes
8. Overall championship was won by LOYOLA COLLEGE.(Last year won by SDNB Vaishnav College for Women, Chromepet)
