Events & Activities

Atlantis

The Department organizes Atlantis, an Inter-Collegiate Literary Festival as a co-curricular activity, intended as a platform for the students’ creative and intellectual talents. The event also encourages the students to organise and manage event on their own and ensure the holistic development of the students. The open environment of the event encourages enthusiastic participation and healthy competition among the participants and fosters friendships across institutions.

Blossoms – Hand-written Magazine

The hand-written magazine is a special project of the department offering the students an opportunity to create and collate their creative outputs including poems, stories, art works, book reviews, critical writings, etc. The collection is completely co-ordinated by the students with an editorial board and a faculty to assist them with the logistics.

Club Activities

The Quiz Club regularly conducts literary quiz competitions, organised by the students for the students. The topics cover the UG course syllabus.

The Movie Club coordinates the screening of documentaries and short films on topics decided by the student co-ordinators. They cover a range of topics within and outside the syllabus. The screenings are followed by discussions and debates on the issues in the texts.

Workshop

The Department has a tradition of organising workshops on topics that are related to the UG Degree Programme. The sessions which are open to faculty and students from other colleges offer an open environment where participants are encouraged to work in groups and where every one learns together. The workshops invite senior academics as resource persons to incorporate practical learning strategies into coursework. The topics for workshops include Practical Writing Strategies, Theatre, Translations and Postcolonialism.

Guest Lecture

Guest lectures for the students are regularly organized on topics related to their Course of study. Eminent academicians are invited as resource persons for the sessions that provide an overview of the subject of study. The students are invited to offer their understanding of the topic and seek any clarifications from the experts.

Exhibition

The Literary Exhibition offers a platform for the students to exhibit their creative talents, and innovative vigour. The students create models, charts and games that display a wider understanding of the prescribed texts and the non-literary contexts of their subjects of study. They are also encouraged to make presentations of their projects.
