M.Phil. Microbiology

M.Phil in Microbiology, a research degree programme, offers three theory papers, out of which two are research oriented subjects namely, Research Methodology and Advanced paper in Microbiology and a project oriented paper based on the subject chosen for the thesis work. These subjects enable the scholars to equip themselves for the research work. M.Phil progamme is instrumental to a scholar in pursuing further research. Thesis component, which is part of the M.Phil programme in Microbiology, would encapsulate a major portion of biosciences. The programme helps the students to acquire and demonstrate competency in laboratory safety and in routine and specialized microbiological laboratory skills applicable to microbiological research or clinical methods, including accurately reporting observations and analysis. Exciting career opportunities exist as researchers in laboratories of various universities & institutes, in biotechnology companies, agricultural, medical, veterinary institutes, in forensic science laboratories, environmental organizations, higher education institutions, publicly funded research organizations, Research & Development division of pharmaceutical sectors and in various research fields to assist the Scientists in research works. Graduates can also aspire for teaching in academic institutions and be self-employed.
