The Citizen Consumer Club of Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science organized a seminar on February 25, 2026. The event, themed “ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN SHAPING CONSUMER RIGHTS” aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to utilize Social Media resources responsibly, ensuring the well-being of both present and future generations .
The Chief Guest Dr. J. Vijayathilagam, Former Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Government of Tamilnadu grace the occasion with the magnificiant presentation. Dr. J. Vijayathilagam, with over three decades of experience in government service and consumer awareness propagation, currently serves as a Guest Faculty at Anna Administrative Staff College, Government of Tamilnadu. Her presence added invaluable insights and perspectives to the discussions.
More than 120 students from various disciplines actively participated in the seminar, engaging in fruitful deliberations and gaining valuable insights into role of social media in shaping consumer rights. The seminar served as a platform for students to understand the importance of utilizing resources efficiently without compromising the needs of future generations.
The event underscored the significance of adopting sustainable practices in today’s world and emphasized the pivotal role that students can play in driving positive change in future.
