Out Reach Program on International Chef’s Day

As a pert of our out reach program in connection with nutrition and international chefs day a seminar was taken on the topic healthy eating habits  for the school on 15th Nov 2025

Cake Mixing Ceremony

The students organised a cake mixing ceremony as a  part of Christmas eve where soaking a delicious array of ingredients in the finest alcohol several weeks before the cakes are baked on 11th Nov 2025

Talent Hunt Inter School Competition

A lunch was prepared and served to 150 students from various schools in and around our college who came for the talent hunt organised by AMCAS on 31st Oct 2025

Orphanage Visit

Visited Annai Fhathima Child welfare centre at karapakam and served the children with the food and sweets on 26th Oct 2025

Goan Theme Lunch

It’s a goan theme lunch where the ambience and food were prepared as of in Goa, with goan cultural events and games on 8th Oct 2025

Tourism Day

On account of tourism day students took part in the competition which  Showcased there talent in collage chart work and Essay writing on dream world tourist spot on 29th Sep 2025

SICA Competition

Students actively participate in the competition and won 1 silver, 11 bronze and 5 Merit on 20th Sept 2025

Nutrition Week

On account of Nutrition week students were given awareness program on benifits of having nutritious foods and balanced diet from 1st Sept to 7th Sep 2025

A onam celebration with cultural events and onam feast for all the faculties of AMCAS and AKG School on 29th August 2025

The students were briefly explained about how to make various salad around the world on 24th August 2025

Madras Day

Madra day is celebrated of Chennai’s history, Culture and Heritage. On this day students kept various food stalls establishing city’s iconic landmarks, delicious foods with warm hospitality on 22nd August 2025

Mixology Workshop

Organized by cheers club conducted mocktail competition, chief guest P. HARINATH director the masons (Location: Restaurant lawn) on 14th August 2025

The students of first year had a competition on preparing different types of french fries on 28th July 2025

Award of Achievement :  The Academic Insight Honored our Department for India’s Most Elite Hotel Management College 2025.

Students participate in SICA Culinary Olympiad 2025 Competition and won 20 medals & certificates

Mr Yuvan Kumar of Third year won 2nd place for new product development conducted in Dr. Dhanapalan College on the topic Food Think .

Better Kitchen’s Everest Culinary Challenge :SRM Conducted Competition where Students enthusiastically competed in a variety of categories like Enzo Housekeeping Olympiad, F&B Young Masters Challenge, Flavors of India, Bakery Champion.

Students of third year Harini and Dinesh won 1st place and visited Mumbai for the final round in Bakery Category.

Activities 2024 – 2025

A Guest lecture was given by Chef Venkatesh Bhat., Celebrity chef and Alumni of Asan memorial college of arts and science on the topic Growth in Hospitality Sector where he shared his experience of working in a hotel and how to grow in the passion.

A sweet and flavourful basis for Christmas cakes is created by combining dry fruits, nuts, and spices with wine or rum during the cake-mixing process. On December 19, 2024, the Asan School of Hospitality’s BSC Hotel and Catering Management students marked the start of Christmas Eve with a cake-mixing ceremony.

The students organised the Christmas Eve meal on the 23rd December, 2024. The gathering was full of vibrant and fragrant food.

Christmas Eve lunch was arranged by the students on 23/12/24 we’re the celebration was filled with colourful and aromatic food.

Activities 2023 – 2024

The department had cake mixing ceremony a part of Christmas eve on 22/12/23 were the season of the yuletide. It means Christmas goodies. Of all the goodies, Christmas Cake is most sought after. It is a traditional holiday delicacy enjoyed worldwide.
It’s a rich and dense fruitcake, typically made with a mix of candied fruits, nuts, and spices. The cake is often soaked in alcohol, like brandy or rum, for added flavor and moisture.
Chef Balaram who is carrying more than 50years of experience who is 79 years old came to ASH to share his experience and knowledge and demonstrated Christmas cake preparation.
The department organised an orientation program on 24/02/2023 and the topic covered was Internship and placement abroad by JOJO International private Ltd. The Speaker was Ms Ankita Raj., Recruitment manager briefed out about the various job and internship opportunities that are available overseas and also gave us the idea of earning in abroad.
The department organized an workshop on ” The working atmosphere at cruise line related to hospitality industry” on 24/03/2023. The speaker was Mr John Thambi durai., A crew member RCCL who briefed out the various opportunities in cruise and also about the atmosphere and handling.
Our department had taken charge of a stall were Fusion panni poori, Kulki Sarbath, Cake with chocolate syrup and topping was sold at minimal rate on Genesis 2023 organised by Asam Memorial senior secondary school, Cochin house on 11th and 12 th of August
The department of Hotel and Catering Management took up a stall in AMPS EDUCATION EXPO 2023 on 07/10/23 and 08/10/23 were the students explained the career growth and opportunities for the hotel management studies.

The department of Hotel and Catering Management visited Writer’s Cafe Tharamani as industrial visit on 29/09/23 were the students gained knowledge about the preparation of chocolates, pastry, snacks and etc. They viewed over the kitchen learnt about the maintenance of the area.

The department organised an campus recruitment on 10/03/2023 by Hotel Le Meridien Coimbatore. The students were give various tips regarding the Industry and we’re explained about going on as an employee in a star hotel. Out of 18 students 08 were selected in the concern

The department of Hotel and Catering Management participated in JITO a world record for female chefs on 30/09/23 and 01/10/23. The students assisted the chef in preparation of their menus, displaying the food.

Our students was a part of World Record of most millets based dishes in 100 minutes organised by Chithram TV along with Chef Palani Murugan on 30th July 2023 ai Chennai.

Activities 2022 – 2023

We had an eminent chef in our midst by the name of Chef. Prashant former chef of Taj Thirupathi. He had conducted a one day workshop on September 30th 2022 for the students on Innovative Indian Cuisine, He did a demo along with the students to assist him with the preparation and the cooking process, the had and a beautiful chance to see the various plating styles that can be implemented.

 

The department with coordination with visual communication organised Madras Street Food on 08/09/2023 from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. 8 no of stalls were placed based on Madras theme. The following are the stalls
1. Tea kadai
2. Soda kadai
3. Welcome drink which served with panagam, moor and Vasantha neer
4. Mushroom biryani kadai
5. Chicken biryani kadai
6. Kadal unnavagam which sold sea food
7. Mittai kadai
8. Panniyara kadai

Mr.Harinath who was the brand ambassador for Bacardi in the year 2011 and 6 years following that had been with us and conducted a days workshop on  January 31st 2023, for the students on the topic of Knowing origins and basic knowledge on alcohols and spirits . He had also shown the students various cocktail demos where the students were also allowed to make their own mocktails and cocktails.

We now have Mr. Nallaswamy from the Chennai Institute of Bartending who takes an extra class for the students on mixology and flaring , so that they not only have the hotel industry required skill but also extra feathers that they could have in their cap such as this class where the learn to flip and juggle bottles. On completion of this course they receive a certificate, Certifying them as basic bartenders, which is always an add on advantage to their resume.

Students had participated in the SICA quiz competition that was held for the entire hotel industry committee. The students were up against top chefs and also other colleges who had participated. This was more of an introduction for them to meet excellencies of the industry and also interact with the various hoteliers and also  their fellow neighbouring colleges.

Activities  2017-18

15th Sep , 4 Second year students attended IET Interview at The Trident Oberoi, Chennai.

• 15th Sep, Chocolate Demonstration & Workshop was conducted by Chef Nitin Chordia, proprietor, Cocoa Trait , Chennai, for our department students.

• 11th Sep, Tandoori Demonstration & Workshop was conducted by Chef Sounthar ,Aloft Hotels, Chennai for our Second Year students. Students learnt the art of making various types of kebabs and Indian breads .

• 9th Sep,13 of our department students were inducted as Young Skal members in the event conducted in The Residency Towers, Chennai.

• 29th August, 25 second year students & 2 Staff undertook an Industrial Visit to Taj Gateway Hotel , Shollinganallur . Chennai.Students learnt the various operational functions in the various departments.

• 18th August,5 final year students was participated in the Training Programme on “Campus to Corporate” organized by Asan Rotaract Club in the our Campus.

• 17th August, 3 of our second year students Mr. Vibin, Ms.Jennifer & Mr Rahul Vignesh participated in Inter-collegiate competitions Organised by Hindustan College.

• 16th August, Marriott Hotel conducted a Online culinary Quiz for our 12 second year students at our premises . The top two students Mr. Siddarth & Mr.Ramakrishnan got selected for the culinary Internship Training in their Hotel from 21st to 31st August2017. In this 10 days of training these students got the very good opportunity to explore to learn 6 different cuisines from Master chefs of Marriott Hotel.
